Guru Ray's Teams of the Week

October 31, 2008
Bantam |
Midlothian - Beat a heavily-favored #5 Alvarado
1, and quite convincingly - 20-8. |
| |
Minor |
Cleburne 1 - Hardly more than a six-point
favorite, Cleburne 1 walloped Granbury 1 by a score of 34-0. |
| |
Major |
Weatherford 3 - What else is there to say? 42-6.
Pretty good for a team below the top twenty. |

Bantam |
Cleburne 2 - Cleburne 2 not only pulled off the
upset against Whitney, they shut them down 18-0. |
| |
Minor |
Joshua 1 - Joshua 1 was supposed to win but not
by nearly a 38-6 score. That's an impressive game. |
| |
Major |
Midlothian 3 - These teams weren't that far apart
- about 11 points. But when they took to the field Midlothian 3 got a
little carried away, winning 34-0. |

Bantam |
Cleburne 1 - Shocking! The first team to win this
award twice. This week they were a big underdog, again. But this time
they fought even harder and at the end of regulation the game was
tied. They didn't stop there, though, they actually won in overtime.
That's determination. |
| |
Minor |
Brock 1 - Brock 1, who was heavily favored to
lose, decided a win would look better in their standings as they
knocked off Cleburne 1 by just about what they were supposed to lose
by - 22-6. |
| |
Major |
Granbury 4 - It looked like a huge trouncing for
Granbury 4 as they faced Aledo 4 who was rated 26 spots ahead of them.
Not only did they score six points in what appeared to be a game where
they were headed for a goose egg, they held the #7 team to 30 points.
This might not appear to be an exceptional game but, considering the
difference in the teams, it was outstanding. They may be on the way. |

Starting with the fifth week each season I will start
awarding the team that played the best game the Team of the Week.
This team does not have to win the game but to play much better than
they should be expected to. Let's see which team can win the most.
Bantam |
Cleburne 1 lost 22-6 but showed
Midlothian they can't be pushed around. Not only did they
not get clobbered, they held Midlothian to 22 points and
picked up some points themselves. Now that you know you can
play real football, let's see some more games like that. |
| |
Minor |
Weatherford 2 probably shouldn't have
beaten Aledo 2 but they did. Not only did they beat them,
they didn't let them score. |
| |
Major |
Joshua 3 rose from the ranks of the
mediocre to pounce Granbury 3 by a score of 26-0. Mighty
impressive. |
