I am a features writer for Football365, writing primarily about the Premier League, UEFA competitions and the World Cup.

I write about Tottenham, a club I love and hate in equal measure, as often as I can get away with, especially if there is any opportunity at all to shoehorn some Erik Lamela in there.

My current favourite football rabbit-holes down which to disappear involve the formats for major tournaments such as the Champions League and World Cup, significant recent changes to those formats, why those changes have happened, and what that can and does mean for those events.

About

I started my sports journalism career in 2005 – on the day England regained the Ashes – after graduating in Journalism Studies from the University of Sheffield.

I began my career as a sub-editor covering all sports with a focus on football and cricket at sportinglife.com and have also written on those two sports for Sky Sports, TEAMtalk, Cricket365 and Wisden among others.

I co-host the very occasional cricket podcast Ahead of the Eight Ball, which examines the often absurd language of cricket and the tropes and cliches within it.

In 2016 I co-wrote the critically-acclaimed book 28 Days’ Data, which studied the England men’s cricket team’s historically abysmal record in one-day international cricket, and how they might go about changing it in time for the home World Cup in 2019. They would, of course, go on to win that tournament just like we told them to.

I had written bits and pieces for Football365 throughout my career. It always was and remains my favourite site about this daft sport we love, and it was a real honour to join the team as a full-time feature writer in 2020.
